"Calcium is a must take for women and seniors. However, most calcium products on the market today use calcium carbonate, a form that is not well absorbed and can cause upset stomach and constipation, which is why many people hate taking calcium. This product uses calcium citrate, which is more bioavailable, and its paired with magnesium for maximum absorption. This is my favorite product and is what my parents and grandparents take. For best results, I recommend pairing this with a separate vitamin D supplement." - Jiying

What is the difference between the citrate form and carbonate form of calcium?
Both calcium citrate and calcium carbonate, are acceptable forms of calcium supplementation. Overall, carbonate generally has higher labeled amounts of elemental calcium. However, calcium carbonate is alkaline based, meaning it requires extra stomach acid for proper absorption. It is often recommended that carbonate versions are consumed with meals. Calcium citrate does not require extra stomach acid to be properly absorbed, and can be taken at any time of day, even on an empty stomach.
